Das CIRES-Forschungsteam von Dr. Roger Pielke Sr. ist auf gutem Wege, wie neuste Forschungsergebnisse bestätigen. Das IPCC hingegen befindet sich zusehends auf dem Holzweg. Die Zunahme der globalen Wärmeenergie der Ozeane bedeutet, dass sich die Erde erwärmt. Die Wärmespeicherung im Ozean mässigt die Temperatur der Atmosphäre. Dies erklärt zumindest teilweise, warum sich die Atmosphäre nicht so schnell wie erwartet erwärmt hat. Die Veränderung der Wärmeenergie der Ozeane (ocean heat content OHC) sagt nichts  über die Klimasensitivität oder die Gültigkeit von Klimamodellen aus. Die Veränderung des OHC ist allerdings ein Spiegel für das Strahlungsungleichgewicht am Dach der Atmosphäre (top-of-atmosphere TOA).
